The final session of Jas Camp program took place

On December 12, the final session of Jas Camp program took place. At the final session, the participants of 12 projects defended their presentations on the proposed topics, using the acquired skills and knowledge for six weeks.

It should be noted that Jas Camp is the last stage of the evaluation of social entrepreneurship projects of Jas Social Impact competition, organized by the Social Development Fund of Nazarbayev University. The main idea of the program is to support and facilitate the further implementation of Impact entrepreneurship among the community of Nazarbayev University and Alumni of NIS.

Projects that have passed 2 stages of evaluation by experts in various fields were admitted to Jas Camp stage. For six weeks, the program participants honed their skills in personal development, design thinking, social impact, finance, management, marketing and sales. Thanks to each of the modules, the teams were able to strengthen their ideas for the implementation of projects in the field of inclusion, employment of socially vulnerable groups of the population, solving environmental and health issues and ensuring their sustainable development and implementation. The training took place in various interesting formats: interactive discussions, trainings, teamwork.

If initially the participants came with dry ideas, then after training and acquiring new skills, their ideas were filled with meaning. It should be emphasized that all the projects were distinguished by their uniqueness, relevance and social orientation, and most importantly – the opportunity to influence others, get feedback.

At the first stage of participation in the program, Jardem team had only an algorithm for implementing ideas, and after six modules they were able to identify the main design elements, create an implementation plan from 2022. If TILASHAR team did not have an understanding of how to promote the product, now they have a business model of the project, they have learned how to hire staff and have gained invaluable knowledge about the financial model.

Kindergarten team can boast of such success, for whom many issues were initially unclear, and by the final session of the program they adjusted the financial model, began actively working on a personal brand, “pumped” themselves in marketing and advertising.

One of the participants of the program shared her feelings after the training.

“I find it difficult to say which of the modules I liked the most, because each of them helps us take the project to a new level, and mentors from different angles considered our ideas. Now I have a common puzzle: how to further promote the project. I am delighted with every class. I used to say that I was waiting for Saturday as a holiday. After every Saturday and training, new ideas and insights appeared in order to successfully implement the idea,” Assel Kusanova, a participant of Jas Camp, said.

Environmental issues are coming to the forefront in modern society and the information space. According to representatives of OIKO, more and more pseudo-eco-goods of household chemicals are appearing on the shelves of the store. This made them think about creating their own brand of an eco-friendly and 100% natural product. To implement the idea, the project participants intend to launch a children’s product line: shampoos, bath and hand foams, washing powders and bring products to the Kazakh market.

“Our mission is to give everyone the right to choose, so that they have the opportunity to make an informed choice in favor of their health and environmental protection for future generations. By choosing our project, you will contribute to the development of the production of safe children’s cosmetics in Kazakhstan,” representatives of the Kazakhstan brand of household eco-friendly chemicals “OIKO” noted.

It should be emphasized that thanks to the implementation of this project, Kazakhstan will have the first domestic children’s cosmetics with an environmentally friendly safe composition at an affordable price and certified production without industrial waste.

One of the participants of “Kishkentai” project was the mother of a child with special needs, an entrepreneur, who noted the special contribution of mentors. “I have already applied the acquired knowledge in my project and increased my income 4.5 times,” Gulmira Parmysheva passed on.

No less interesting was the presentation of the project “jer biohumus”, the main mission of which is the revival of high fertility and resistance of the soil of Kazakhstan to climatic and anthropogenic factors. The project leader notes that the main positive effect of its implementation is to stop soil erosion, dispose of food waste, increase fertility, resistance to drought and floods, instill a culture of garbage collection and sorting.

The participants of “Senim” projects intend to provide support in the socialization of people with special needs at the expense of their products.

“Worldwide, only 28% of people with severe disabilities have access to disability benefits, and in low-income countries their share is only 1%.

We want to help people with mental illnesses and disabilities find employment, support them, and create a sustainable methodology. We will popularize the idea of conscious consumption and provide the market with high-quality and affordable food,” the initiators of the project Anelya Zhaulbayeva and Meiramgul Kenzhebekova passed on.

There is no need to wait for the implementation of major state reforms in order to influence the improvement of the environmental situation at their level, instill careful consumption of resources to the younger generation. This is what the initiators of Earth Food project think. In particular, the team intends to solve the problem of animal shelters, teach reasonable consumption, separate collection of things. By organizing joint “family” trips with children to animal shelters, the initiators of the project want to reduce the level of cruelty in the country.

In Kazakhstan, according to statistics, there are 80 thousand people with visual impairment.

About 70% use smartphones, 88% of them use screen readers. Through the applications that the SPEECH LAB team will develop, they will have access to all text data in their phone. For them, this service will be completely free.

The issue of increasing the potential of women raising children with disabilities is of concern to the head of Sezim project, Didar Kamelinov. The team wants to promote the mental, personal and individual development of women raising children with disabilities.

Recall that the main message of the program is the development of entrepreneurial skills among socially responsible leaders, achieving the maximum level of social impact, training and integrating team management skills for sustainable development, creating a financial model to achieve sustainability and developing a project development strategy with a long-term perspective aimed at scaling.

The founders of the project Profmentors.com they want to build a centralized platform for building a career by expanding the definition of STEM beyond computer science. The team will help young people in career planning. Mentors will conduct consultations, identify inclinations for a particular specialty and suggest areas of development.

The results of the project selection will be announced before the end of the year.
