NU Moves Up Another 100 Places in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings

Nazarbayev University has moved up another 100 places in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027, placing it in the 376–400 range among universities worldwide for the second year in a row.

Over the past two years, NU has climbed 200 places in the rankings, placing it among the top 17.4% of universities worldwide included in this year’s ranking. NU also ranked first among universities in the CIS, up from fourth place last year.

This year, NU improved its performance across four key areas: research quality, teaching, research environment, and industry engagement.

One of NU’s strongest results was in Research Quality, where the university scored 84.1 points. Its performance in this category is comparable to that of universities such as the University of Geneva, the University of Arizona, and the University of Rochester.

The 2027 rankings feature 2,297 universities from 118 countries and territories, including 10 universities from Kazakhstan.

This achievement reflects the collective work of the NU community — faculty and researchers, students, staff, and alumni. Their knowledge, research, ideas, and initiatives continue to shape and strengthen the university.

NU Impact Foundation is also part of this community, supporting talent and initiatives in entrepreneurship, science, social innovation, and culture.

We sincerely congratulate Nazarbayev University, its faculty and researchers, students, staff, and alumni on this international achievement and wish the university continued growth, new discoveries, and impactful projects that create opportunities for the next generation of talent.
