Promoting healthy habits in children by creating information resources to support parents in developing healthy habits in children aged 0-6.
Project description
And Alaqan project leader Gauhar Kiikova, a student at the NU School of Higher Education, wants to promote healthy habits in children by creating information resources to support parents in developing healthy habits in children from 0 to 6 years old.
According to Gauhar, the project will result in an information pack for 30 parents in different age groups in five areas, a parenting marathon and a mini online course for parents with tips and example exercises, which will be posted on the Institute’s website.
The project will contribute to parents’ understanding of important habits in children under 6 and provide them with information resources and tools to use with their children: examples of exercises, checklists, games. The project will provide interested parents with the information they need, based on scientific evidence, in two languages and in an accessible form. These will include recipes using fruit and vegetables, checklists of goals achieved on the day, tips for parents and information booklets.
The resources will be developed by the OYNA Childhood Institute team, based on current scientific evidence and research. Each parent will be able to use the resources online or print them out for home use. More children will acquire healthy habits, be active and eat well, which will contribute to their healthy development, reduce obesity in children and lower sugar consumption.
